Depends on whether you have the Drivers Information Center or not.

2001鈥?8 Tahoe Less Driver Information Center

These models are equipped with an oiling system indicator lamp which will flash if the oil level drops below a safe point or will remain lit when the oil and filter are ready to be changed.

After changing the oil and filter, reset the monitor by proceeding as follows:

Turn ignition On, but do not start engine.

Fully depress and release accelerator pedal three times within five seconds.

If CHANGE ENGINE OIL lamp flashes for five seconds, this indicates system has reset.

Start engine. OIL LIFE should change to 100%.

If CHANGE OIL SOON lamp lights again, repeat reset procedure.

If it did not reset automatically , you may need 2 disconnect the battery for a few seconds. That usually takes care of it.
turn the key to the run position (not started) and fully press the gas pedal 3 times within 5 seconds. wait for the light to flash. start engine to make sure light isnty still onHow to turn off the oil change light after an oil change?
